Review: Kérastase Blond Absolu Range
The lovely ladies in L’Oréal recently sent me the full Kérastase Blond Absolu range to try out. As you are well aware, I would never write a review of a product without fully putting it to the test, so after two months of use, I can safely say that the verdict is in!
The Kérastase Blond Absolu Range
The range itself consists of five products that work together to provide the ultimate care for us blondies out there! There is a good variety of products to ensure you are maintaining your hair condition on a daily basis while also keeping on top of any brassiness with more colour-enhancing treatments.
Blond Absolu Bain Lumière
The is your regular day to day shampoo in the range. It contains Hyaluronic Acid (the holy grail!) , to help pump moisture back into your hair, and Edelweiss flower for its ability to protect the hair against environmental damage. The lightweight formula leaves the hair feeling shiny and soft and it almost illuminates the natural tones of the hair.
Blond Absolu Cicaflash
This product is the day to day conditioning treatment from the range. It has all of the benefits of a conditioner, with the enhanced power of a mask. It helps to restore the hair fibre making it look and feel stronger, and preventing any further breakage. While masks are normally heavy, this is a light-weight formula, and leaves the hair smooth and soft after use.
Blond Absolu Cicaplasm
Cicaplasm is a strengthening, leave-in serum that acts as a heat protector for the hair. Not only does it smell ABSOLU-tely (excuse the pun!) amazing, it gives the hair a beautiful shine and prevents the hair from breaking under the high temperatures associated with styling.
Blond Absolu Bain Ultra-Violet
Similar to the Bain Ultra-Violet toning shampoo, this deeply nourishing mask contains violet pigments that help neutralise the colour of the hair and remove unwanted brassiness. It helps to promote cool tones and restores and nourishes the hair. It is quite a thick, creamy formula that provides the ultimate treatment for blonde hair.
My Blond Absolu routine
day to day
During the week, I followed the same routine each time I washed my hair. This is detailed below:
- Wet hair and remove excess water
- Apply a small amount (euro size) of Bain Lumière focusing mainly on the roots (they tend to get more greasy than the rest of my hair)
- Rinse with warm water
- Apply a second small amount of Bain Lumière this time working into a lather throughout the length of the hair
- Rinse thoroughly
- Remove excess water or towel dry hair
- Apply a small amount of Cicaflash and massage through mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the roots
- Leave in for 2 to 3 minutes
- Emulsify and rinse thoroughly
- Towel dry
- Apply 2 pumps of Cicaplasm to the lengths of hair
- Comb through to spread the product evenly
- Blow-dry and style as desired
Once per week, I would use Bain Ultra-Violet for my second shampoo. I applied it all over and left on my hair for up to 5 minutes
For an Extra Treat
Every two weeks or so, I opted for the Masque Ultra-Violet instead of the Cicaflash conditioning treatment. I applied a small amount all over towel dried hair and left it on my hair for around 8 to 10 minutes.
The verdict
The Good
I found that the Blond Absolu range 100% worked at keeping my blonde hair looking clean and fresh . It also helped neutralise the brassy tones that us blondies often experience a few weeks post colouring. After two months of use, my hair feels stronger than it ever has before and I can safely say that I will definitely be continuing to purchase some of these products (but which one’s, I hear you say…)
While I loved the Bain Lumière for day to day use, my ABSOLU-te (ok, I’ll stop) favourite product of the range has to be Blond Absolu Cicaplasm. I will hold my hands up and admit that I never consistently used a heat defence serum before trialling this range, but I will most definitely continue to purchase this product. I was confident that it was protecting my hair, and it left my hair frizz-free and with a beautiful shine.
The not-so-Good
Unfortunately, I found that the first time I used the Masque Ultra-Violet it was too heavy for my hair. While it felt really soft and hydrated, it left my hair feeling weighed down and greasy. However, there is no denying the colour impact that it had on my hair. So, if you have finer hair like myself, I would recommend opting for the Bain Ultra-Violet over this product for neutralising brassiness, which worked perfectly.

Final Say
All in all, the Kérastase Blond Absolu products did exactly what they said they would do, and I am seriously impressed with the range. I would happily recommend them to any highlighted or colour treated blondes. I imagine the impact of the violet-toned products would be far greater in brighter blonde/grey hair but I was very happy with the results I achieved over the two months trialling these products.
A massive thank you to L’Oréal who gifted me these products to try out. As always, this content was written by me and reflects my own personal view and experience using the Kérastase Blond Absolu range.
