The Aesthetic – Our Minimalist, Black & White Wedding in Spain
When we envisioned our wedding day, we wanted something classic, timeless, and seamlessly integrated with the beauty of our Spanish venue, Cortijo Rosa Blanca. The lush green foliage, blooming white roses, and the stunning olive tree at the heart of our dinner setting created the perfect backdrop for the venue. Rather than overwhelming it with elaborate décor, our goal was to subtly enhance its natural beauty.
A Minimalist Black & White Theme
As designers, both my husband and I have a very particular eye for detail. We’re all about clean lines, balance and consistency. I’ve always loved the idea of a minimalist wedding, and for us, that meant having everything flow seamlessly. From the signage to the florals, it was important that everything felt in harmony. We chose a black-and-white colour scheme as our perfect base, but we were careful to ensure that all of the design elements fit together. I’m a bit obsessed with making sure things match (anyone else?), so we stuck to one font throughout. This kept everything clean and cohesive.

Wedding Florals – Simple Yet Elegant
When it came to flowers, I didn’t want anything too fussy. We kept it natural with white blooms and green foliage—a look that complemented the venue’s rustic charm. Our wedding planner worked with an amazing florist . She helped us select seasonal flowers that enhanced the venue rather than compete with it. I wanted it to feel effortless, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be.

Wedding Decor – Clean, Elegant, and a Few Fun Touches
We knew we wanted the decor to feel simple, elegant, and understated. A fabric welcome sign was the perfect addition. It added a touch of effortless elegance as it gracefully moved in the wind, welcoming guests as they arrived.
For the cocktail hour, we added a fun twist with a black selfie mirror. This allowed our guests to take cute photos and interact with each other—it was a huge hit!
When it came to the tablescape, we kept things refined but simple. White linens, understated centrepieces, and the warm glow of candlelight created a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. The addition of gold cutlery contrasted beautifully with the neutral colour palette, making the dinner setup feel extra special. As a personal touch, we gifted our guests limoncello shots as wedding favours—a fun icebreaker that brought everyone together and set the tone for a joyful evening.

That Moment When It All Came Together
One of my favourite memories from the day was walking from the bridal suite to the ceremony area. On the way, I passed through the dinner setting and saw everything for the first time. The tables, the flowers, the signage — it was a moment I will always remember. It all came together perfectly, exactly like we’d imagined, but even more magical in person.
The overall aesthetic felt so us. It was timeless, refined, and naturally beautiful. If you’re planning a destination wedding (or even just a wedding in general!), I highly recommend choosing an aesthetic that enhances your venue rather than competing with it, while also staying true to your style, and not trying to keep up with trends. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing!
